The Great American Health Project

  • Forty-six years old;
  • Incredible wife;
  • Two beautiful daughters;
  • Blessed with a life that most people dream about; and.......
  • Face down on a hospital bed while two doctors aspirate bone marrow from my hip.

This was me in November 2009.

At a moment like that, time seems to stand still and it is amazing the thoughts that race through your head.

Over the course of two long months, I underwent:

  • A bone marrow biopsy procedure;
  • Numerous blood tests (Dracula could not have taken more from me);
  • Ultrasounds and more biopsies; and
  • Many long periods of waiting and thinking.

Why?  The doctors suspected a blood cancer. (The major forms of blood cancer are lymphoma, leukemia and multiple myeloma. They affect the way a body makes blood and provides immunity from other diseases.)

The outcome from all this.......

Other than a potential hypothyroid issue the doctors told me I am healthier and in better shape physically than most twenty-year old people.

Professionally as an estate planning attorney, I have spent the last 17 years focusing on helping people implement plans to protect their family upon death.

Personally, I have spent the last twenty-five years learning how to be as healthy and happy (physically and mentally) as possible.

If I do say so myself, I have been very successful at both.

My experience last November convinced me though I must share this information with as many people as possible.

  • I need to teach people how to plan their estate (and if they live in a state where I am licensed to practice law, currently Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona later in 2010) help them create and implement their plan.
  • I also need to teach people how to maintain a healthy body composition and do all they can to prevent sickness and disease.

How are these two related?

  • Get your advanced planning (estate plan) done so your family is protected because you will not live forever.
  • Then get down to becoming as healthy (physically and mentally) as you can be so you don't use your estate plan for a long long time.

You don't want to end up face down on the hospital bed thinking you are too young to die.

  • Estate and asset protection plan (through Kaufer Law Firm, LLC); and
  • Personal Health (through my consulting company, Neuro Performance & Health).
